Networking & Security Safari with Jeremy Goosen – Podcast #027

by | Mar 5, 2020 | Podcast | 5 comments

What is more rare than an Aardvark, a Pangolin, or even the elusive Honey Badger? Why, it’s an IVOXY networking consultant with 30 minutes of free time!

This week, we welcome IVOXY Consultant Jeremy Goosen to our Data Center Therapy studios as he spends some time talking with the guys about networking best practices for small to medium-sized organizations. Specifically, the crew discuss some products & features that can really help secure servers & systems from diabolical attackers and feckless users alike.

Some of the technologies and strategies covered include:

  • Segmentation, 802.1x, BGP, and enterprise / midrange switch gear (Catalyst, Nexus, plus some other vendors that don’t necessarily belong in most businesses’ data closets!)
  • Identity management solutions such as Aruba ClearPass and Cisco ISE – as well as ASA and Palo Alto firewalls.
  • And for a little fun, Yette, Cozzolino, and Goosen discuss DRM (digital rights management) in a household spot you wouldn’t first imagine it.

Grab your dose of IT empathy and see how the network half lives by giving this episode a listen. As discussed on this episode, if everything in your network is on the default VLAN (VLAN1), it might just be the right time to have a chat with your friends here at IVOXY; we’re eager to help you out!

Thanks for subscribing & sharing with your colleagues – and please pay back into the Information Technology karmic bucket by rating Data Center Therapy wherever fine podcasts are found!
