Let’s cut to the chase…

For those seasoned, battle-scarred and most tenured network professionals, feel free to download Episode 36 and skip to the last three and a half minutes, because some of this may be review.

Great. Now that the network wizards are on their merry way, we can get down to the business of educating us mere mortals on what routing is and how it helps businesses + the internet work. We’re giving the network, specifically that unsung hero of a protocol: the Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) some love on this episode.

Our intrepid hosts Misters Matt Yette and Matt Cozzolino welcome to the virtual studios, hailing from Boston, our esteemed colleague Keith Emmanuel to break down what BGP is and how it’s used in today’s networks.

Lest you believe routing protocols just work and don’t require any nuanced security or hygiene practices, the guys dive into an incident with the country of Pakistan and YouTube and share how BGP was compromised. Yette and Keith also share some good-natured ribbing on the state of their respective Northeast sports teams, so there’s a little something for everyone. And of course, as mentioned earlier, there’s some pro-tips toward the end for those network gurus out there.
